Bring Your Horse on Holiday to Riscombe Farm
If you are a rider and plan to stay in one of our holiday cottages, then why not bring your horse on holiday to Exmoor and enjoy some of the best riding in England (see location of Riscombe Farm). We offer DIY livery available in 4 loose boxes, and there is a secure, heated, well-equipped tack room with hot & cold water. There is plenty of grazing/turnout in our fields which run down to the River Exe. Bedding and hay can be provided at cost, and grazing is normally available. We provide wheel barrows, buckets, and all the equipment needed to muck out, and there is a hose with a wash down area. Riscombe Farm is well placed to explore the countryside with long and short rides in all directions, to Dunkery Beacon, Tarr Steps, the Doone Valley, and along the Rivers Exe and Barle (see Enjoy Exmoor). Ride route maps can be provided.
DIY livery charges are £10 per horse per night. Please phone to check availability when booking for horses to stay.
Bedding is extra (please contact us for current prices for straw, paper or miscanthus – we only charge you what we pay). The stables are on one side of the courtyard, opposite the self catering cottages, so you will always be close by! If you are bringing a horse, please try to ensure that it has a good set of shoes, preferably with road nails. If you are bringing a very large horse lorry then please give us a call for advice – the lane down to us is narrow and winding, but we do have large vehicles here regularly.
We do not hire out horses, but click this link to see details of horse hire at a number of stables in the Exmoor area.
